What is MIL-STD-810H?

MIL-STD-810 is a US military standard that ensures a device can withstand environmental stresses and other specific conditions under which it may face throughout its service life. This is completed by mimicking the impacts those environments will have on the device.

There are a broad range of tests required to determine whether a product meets MIL-STD-810H standards, including how it holds up in high and low temperatures, rain, humidity, fungus, salt spray, sand and dust, shock, etc.

Low-temperature Operating Life

The temperature is maintained at -25℃ for 2 hours.

High-temperature Operating Life

The temperature is maintained at 50℃ for 2 hours.

Temperature Shock Test

The temperature is maintained constant — the high temperature of 70℃ for 1 hour and the low temperature of -50℃ for 1 hour. This cycles 3 times for a total of 6 hours.

Solar Radiation Test
  • Pre-test inspection: Conduct appearance and functional inspection of the test sample under standard atmospheric conditions.
  • Test method: Procedure I, Condition A23 consecutive cycles are performed for a total of 72 hours, each lasting 24 hours.
  • Post-test inspection: Check the appearance of the tested sample under standard atmospheric conditions.

What does 5 ATM water resistant mean?

5 ATM withstands pressures equivalent to around 50 meters, which is a measure of pressure NOT depth. Smartwatches featuring 5 ATM waterproof can be used for shallow-water activities such as swimming, but avoid wearing it while taking hot baths or saunas.

Static pressure test
Place the device into a sink, and gradually increase the water pressure for 10 minutes until it reaches the level equal to the atmospheric air pressure of 5 bar.
Dynamic pressure test
Place the device into a sink, after which use a mechanical arm or other tools to simulate user movement while swimming, diving, etc. In the meantime, check whether the device works normally regarding button response time, screen display, and so on.

What is IP69K?

IP69K tops the rating on the ingress protection (IP) scale that rates a product based on its ability to withstand the intrusion of solids and liquids, alongside intensive cleaning with high-pressure, high-temperature jets. IP69K-rated smartwatches are superbly dustproof in practice and resistant to rigorous daily washdown.

IP68

What is Internal Reliability Tests?

Before sending every piece of KOSPET product to our customers, we ensure that it has passed as many as 28 reliability tests conducted in our own laboratory to meet the exacting standards.

Here are some of the internal reliability tests to provide further insights into the quality standards of KOSPET products.

IP6X
  • Place the smartwatches that are powered off in the sand and dust test box for testing.
  • The total sample size should take up less than one third of the effective space of the test box, with the bottom area smaller than a half of the effective horizontal area. The distance between test samples and the box wall should be more than 100mm.
  • During the test, the temperature inside the box is 25℃~35 ℃, the relative humidity is 25%~75%, and the standard atmospheric pressure is 101kPa.
  • Test powder: Talcum powder with 50um in diameter; Size of the sieve hole: 75um.
  • The amount of talcum powder: 2kg /m3
  • Vibrate for 10 seconds and stop for 10 seconds, which lasts 8 hours before blowing and vibration stop. The samples are taken out only after the powder has completely settled.
Free Drop Test
  • Height: 1.2m
  • Drop ground material: Marble or Steel plate.
  • Requirement: Drop 3 times on six sides and any two corners of the smartwatch respectively.
  • Note: After passing the 1.2m drop test, increase the height to 1.5m and 1.8m, and record the test results.
Low temperature Drop Test
  • Height: 1.2m
  • Drop ground material: Marble or Steel plate.
  • Requirement: Drop 3 times on six sides and any two corners of the smartwatch respectively.
  • Note: After passing the 1.2m drop test, increase the height to 1.5m and 1.8m, and record the test results.
Roller Drop Test
  • Place the sample into the roller drop test machine at a height of 0.5m with a total of 500 drops.
  • Inspect the function and structure of the sample every 100 drops.
  • Drop frequency: 10 times/min
  • A tape is used to stick the battery cover during the test.
Static Pressure Test
  • Power on the smartwatch with its screen up. Use a round flat-head indenter with a diameter of 10mm to apply a pressure of 150N at the center and four corners of the TP for 5 minutes at each point.
  • Once the test is over, repeat it with the battery cover facing up to test the built-in battery of the smartwatch, whose appearance and function should meet the requirements.
Button Lifespan Test

With the smartwatch powered on, press its power button 200,000 times and the rest of buttons 100,000 times, with a speed of 40~60 times/min.

Touchscreen Scratch Test
  • With the smartwatch powered on and no card inserted, select the TP diagonal position and scratch the same position at least 100,000 times with a force of 250g, a stroke of 60mm, and a scratching speed of 1 cycle/s.
  • Check the smartwatch function every 20,000 times.
Strap Tensile Test

By simulating real-life wearing scenarios with gradually increased stretching force, the tensile test helps evaluate the strap’s performance and durability of continuous use.
